THE CONCEPT

Playgroup Design is highly aware of the many talented designers and artists currently active in the Australian community, and the few opportunities we have to exhibit.

We wanted to hold an exhibition in a different environment to that of a four walled white space, showroom or huge conference centre. An intimate and familiar environment where the public can appreciate the work of designers and artists integrated together.

THE REALITY

'My Name is House’ invites the public to view and appreciate great design and art in an environment in which replicates the familiarity of a contemporary living space - the home.

We have kindly been donated a converted terrace house by Side-On Jazz Cafe in which to hold the exhibition. It is a commercial zone with street frontage, covering 105m2 whose rooms we are using as a lounge room, small gallery space, dining room, bedroom and exterior courtyard. We have invited emerging designers and artists from around Australia to submit their works and with our team of interior designers, we are morphing this hollow shell into a fabulous contemporary home.

This fantastic and rare opportunity will provide a forum for both industry professionals and the general public to interact on a face to face level, delivering viewers with a better understanding of the design process plus offering them the opportunity to purchase uniquely creative pieces and to see the ‘up and comings’ of many disciplines integrated together.
